LONDON MAN FACING CHARGES

Aggravated assault investigation

LONDON, ON (November 24, 2021) – A London man is in custody in relation to a serious assault investigation.

On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at approximately 5 p.m., a 50-year-old London man was walking in the 400-block of York Street when he was approached by a male acquaintance.

The two men entered into an argument. The suspect male was in possession of a baseball bat and a sharp object at the time of the reported incident.

The victim was struck by the bat, and cut with a sharp object. The suspect chased after the victim as he ran from the area. The victim called police from the 300-block of Horton Street and emergency services attended.   

The victim was transported to hospital by paramedic services with serious injuries.

The entire incident was captured on video surveillance.

A suspect was arrested nearby, and a baseball bat was seized.

As a result of the investigation, Eric Philip Gratton, 29, of London, has been charged with aggravated assault and fail to comply with release order.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in London court today in relation to the charges.
